Melusi is the Managing Partner and Founder of Kedari. He is a senior qualified actuary and experience advising clients in Africa, Europe, and North America. He has been in the industry since January 2011 and has experience in the life insurance, microinsurance, and the reinsurance industry. Melusi acts as an Appointed Actuary/Head of Actuarial Control Function (HAF) for microinsurance companies in South Africa and was the Chief Actuary of a major global reinsurance company focusing on African operations. He has been a leader in assisting clients with the life and micro-insurance licence application process and setting up of operations.
Melusi is a senior member of the actuarial profession globally and in South Africa. He sits on the Actuarial Society of South Africa (ASSA)’s highest decision-making body as a Council member. Melusi is also one of the leaders in the microinsurance space where he heads up the ASSA Microinsurance Practice Area Committee and engages regularly with the regulators in South Africa, i.e., the Prudential Authority (PA) and the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).
In his Appointed Actuary role, Melusi advises the Boards on actuarial matters with a focus on risk management and prudential financial management. Melusi has led teams of senior actuaries and managed complex projects under time pressure and has delivered on time and under budget. He has experience working with actuaries in Africa, North America, South-East Asia, and Europe. He has vast experience managing the expectations of senior management and advising Boards.
